Policy changes for new development in transport corridors

A series of state government and council-led initiatives to encourage better design outcomes for communities along urban corridors in Adelaide’s inner metro areas, as well as areas of the City of Onkaparinga and Prospect, have recently been introduced or finalised

Development Plan Amendments (DPAs) in these areas focus on improving the form and appearance of new developments and improving the integration of new developments with existing homes.

To support the delivery of well-designed developments across South Australia, the Office for Design and Architecture SA has released its draft Design Guidelines for consultation. The Guidelines aim to support the delivery of well-designed housing choice in metropolitan Adelaide and towns across South Australia, ensuring new developments positively contribute to existing neighbourhoods.

In addition, rezoning is proposed on 12 sites in high frequency public transport corridors to provide more housing choice and opportunities to enhance the local area with local shops and services in place that can be designed to complement its neighbours.
