Planning and development plays a vital role in the liveability of South Australia therefore it is important to understand how it affects our daily lives. This why we are putting community consultation at the forefront of our planning processes.
The introduction of the new Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 gives us the opportunity to engage community and interest groups from the very beginning.
Community input is central to the planning and development requirements of the state and for this reason the new Community Engagement Charter is a central component of our new planning system. It will allow us to deliver more sustainable planning outcomes and empower South Australians to help us in shaping the future of our state.
Until this is launched in late 2017, consultation will be required to be undertaken under the current Development Act 1993. Work has commenced on the Community Engagement Charter and we will be working closely with councils to test new ways of effectively engaging with the community.
